Looking to finance your home?Applying for the mortgage loan is one of the most distressing parts of purchasing a house. But it doesn't have to be. My husband, Justin Smilen, and I have over two decades of mortgage experience combined. We have excellent relationships with a lot of lending companies around the country, and they've helped us realize some things that make the process of applying for a loan much easier.
– Organize a list of questions about your loan programMake sure to bring a list of questions if you find that you don't fully grasp the pros and cons of all the various programs. I or one of my lender contacts can assist you with understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each one, because it is hard to understand the distinctions between both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages.
– Decide when you want to lockLocking in the rate means that the mortgage lender commits to the mortgage interest rates for the loan – ordinarily at the time the loan application is submitted. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate anytime between the loan application day and closing. Buyers who choose to float believe that interest rates will fall in the near future. Click here to see the outlook for the next 90 days of interest rates.
– Decide if you want to pay additional points to decrease your rateIf you elect to pay additional points to lower the interest rate of your mortgage loan, you will pay for them in cash at the time of closing. Each point is 1 percent of the mortgage loan. To determine if you should purchase points, click here to use our points calculator.
– Gather your paperworkGetting a mortgage loan requires lots of paperwork, so you should spend some time getting your documentation together. Click here to see general questions you'll have to answer on a loan app. You can reach Justin at 561-716-5146 or myself directly at 561-313-4975. |
